Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for the Newbreeds mobile app (iOS and Android,
bundle id com.newbreeds.app). It explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

We also send an approximate location to weather, tide, and map providers (NWS, NOAA, Open‑Meteo, Google/Apple Maps) to return conditions and map tiles. These providers receive only what's needed to answer the request.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your data for third‑party advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Service providers (processors)
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, realtime.
- RevenueCat + Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing.
- NWS, NOAA, Open‑Meteo — weather, tide, and water‑temperature data.
- Google Maps (Android) / Apple Maps (iOS) — map display.
Data sharing within the app
Catches, photos, and chat you post to a crew are visible to the members of that crew. Logging a catch records its GPS location; if you share that catch, your crewmates can see where it was caught. Don't share spots you want to keep private.
Your choices and rights
- Location: you can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings (catch logging that needs location won't work without it).
- Access/deletion: you can permanently delete your account and associated data anytime from the in‑app Account tab. This removes your catches, messages, crew memberships, and profile. You may also email us to request access to or deletion of your data.
- Blocking & reporting: you can block any user and report any catch, message, or profile from within the app.
Children
Newbreeds is not directed to children under 13, and you must be 13 or older to use it.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, the associated database records are removed. Backups may persist for a limited period before rotating out.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
